Protein

What we mean by clean protein

Short label, honest math, protein your body recognizes.

Clean means your body knows it

When we call our egg white noodles clean protein, we mean it in a specific way, because clean here is not a mood word, it is about how the food is built and how your body uses it. The whole bag comes down to a short list: egg whites, water, and under one percent algae extract, and that is the reason the label is easy to read out loud.

The math is friendly for the same reason, because you get 10 grams of protein for about 45 calories, with very few carbs riding along. That ratio is what you want when you are eating less, because every bite has to do more work, and high-quality protein is the part worth spending your calories on.

The deeper meaning of clean is that your body recognizes and uses this protein almost completely, because egg white sits near the top of the scale scientists use to measure that. You know egg whites, you grew up with them, and there is no mystery in the bag. That is the reason why clean is the honest word for it.

One mechanism at a time.

A few times a month I explain one mechanism — why soluble fiber feeds the bacteria in your gut, why protein steadies blood sugar, why morning light shows up in how you sleep that night. Always the same shape: what happens, and the reason why.
