We are honored she chose Miracle Noodle and the guidance of our health groups to help her obtain her goals and reach over 95 pounds in weight loss in a smart, healthy, and effective way.
Miracle Noodle's Teri Tenseth interviewed Patti Johnson We hope you enjoy this moving and inspirational journey.
Q. When and why did you decide to make a health change?
A: In Spring of 2017, I had an epiphany about my health and realized that I truly did not want to spend the rest of my life fat and sick! I wasn't getting any younger and I did not want to spend the rest of my life like I had spent the last 30 years...struggling with my weight and self-esteem because I blamed myself for becoming so very unhealthy and my inability to make myself better through dieting and exercise.
Q. What was the first thing you did to take action?
A: I did two things simultaneously:
1. In May of 2017, I discovered a YouTube video that contained some eye opening information about insulin and it's impact on the human body's ability to burn fat (lose weight)! Over the next few weeks, I began watching video after video of Dr. Eric Berg's information about body types and insulin resistance (and all the health problems associated with insulin resistance) and the way to fix it using a Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle that he had been recommending to many of his overweight patients throughout the last few years with much success. The information I was learning from his videos really resonated with me.
2. Around the same time I received a Miracle Noodle newsletter (as I had been using Miracle Noodle Angel Hair & Fettuccini products on and off as a pasta alternative for a few years to help keep my blood sugars under control but I was still eating high carb foods for the most part as I craved my bread, potatoes, pasta, cereals, pizza, fast food, etc...) talking about Dr. Carp's creation of a new FB group called Weight Loss Awakening Friendship Group. I was very intrigued and joined right away on May 23, 2017. The initial information provided by Jonathan about the group really intrigued me and I immediately felt that the help I needed might just be available to me in this group.
The Epiphany Part 1: The most important thing I learned from Dr. Berg's videos was that I would never be able to lose any weight due to my severe insulin resistance and the enormous amount of prescribed insulin I was injecting into myself every day! The treatment of my diabetes and my continued consumption of sugar and starchy carbs was a vicious cycle designed to keep my body unhealthy.
The Epiphany Part 2: Everything I was learning from Dr. Carp via the Weight Loss Awakening Friendship Group about The 4 Pillars Of Health and his nutritional recommendations for nutrient rich eating to improve health matched up perfectly (like two missing pieces of a puzzle) with what I was learning from the Dr. Berg videos. I knew then I was meant to take Dr. Carp's information and Dr. Berg's information and combine them to help me find my best health. And on June 25, 2017 I did just that and officially began my new Wellness Journey & Lifestyle and I have never looked back.
Q. How has Miracle Noodle been a part of your success?
Incorporating my fave low-carb Miracle Noodle products (Angel Hair & Fettuccini, please!) as part of my Healthy Keto & Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle has allowed me to feel like I'm indulging in a healthy pasta-alternative meal and reaping the benefits of better healing my health (improved gut health thanks to its' resistance starch properties AND continued weight loss without feeling deprived or hungry in between my meals)!
A. What have you learned from your journey?
I have learned that I am capable of making sustainable changes to my health with great success. I have learned so much about proper nutrition, fitness and portion control and what it truly takes to fuel my body and heal myself inside and out on all levels (physical, spiritual, emotional and social) thanks to Dr. Carp and his wonderful mentorship and teachings in the Weight Loss Awakening Friendship Group as well as the amazing products/tools offered via his Miracle Noodle website (noodles and MealKitt!) AND Dr. Berg's education on how to do his Healthy Keto & IF Lifestyle successfully!
Q. How will you celebrate your health?
A: I will continue to remain committed to my new lifestyle for the rest of my life as a celebration to my new health and future improved health as I continue my Wellness Journey. After being able to stop taking all 8 of the medications I was taking to control my various health issues (which I have almost totally healed so far!) is a huge celebration to me each and every day along with my improved self-esteem and self-confidence. I celebrate my health by loving myself unconditionally and putting my own self-care as my number one priority in my life.
